Residents of Zalava village claim demons have appeared again. Sergeant Ahmadi believes they’re hallucinating and heads to Zalava to investigate further and to visit Maliheh, a paramedic at the village’s clinic. When he arrives, he sees the exorcist is about to perform an exorcism. Believing the exorcist to be a fraud, he comes head to head with him, threatening his own life and Maliheh’s. Zalava has won the FIPRESCI award and Grand Prize Venice International Critics’ Week at Venice Film Festival, as well as several Crystal Simorghs in Fajr Film Festival in the following categories: the best supporting actor, the best screenplay, and the best first film of a director.
